August update

It is now August. This year seems to be flying past fairly quick. Well, to me at least. I feel like I have a lot to do and not enough time to get it done. Or I just put too much on my plate at one time. That happens too.

Lately, my husband and I have been sharing the dinner responsibilities. I have been actually using my slow cooker cookbook to make dinner, and some quicker meals we haven’t had in a while. I cook on Mondays through Wednesdays, Thursdays is either a eat out day or a whatever day, and the hubby cooks Fridays through Sundays. This has drastically cut down our spending on takeout, as well as keeping us eating healthier and on track for our fitness goals. So far, the winners of the slow cooker cookbook have been the enchiladas and the pizza chicken. I am learning things I need to do to adjust the recipes to make them better for next time, as well as getting my middle son slightly involved in dinner since he enjoys cooking and takes cooking classes in high school. He has helped me cut up an onion because my knife skills suck (and yes, I know they do lol.).

Don’t have a lot of things going in this month except for work, trying to keep my blog up to date, making sure that I post something in my TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube channels to try to get them going, and kid stuff (ie getting ready for the new school year coming up as well as senior pictures for my middle son). Also I will be moderating my husband’s stream (@Flores_Factor on Twitch btw) on Wednesdays as well as any pop up streams he might be doing. I also get to go back to the doctor for my follow up on the ABPA diagnosis and hopefully the remediation of said diagnosis, as well as a spirometry appointment and more lab work. I am pretty much over seeing the doctor, any doctor, at this point. Especially since it seems to be so expensive even to go, let alone any medications or labs that they might order. It sucks that my husband and I both have chronic illnesses that facilitate seeing the doctor at least once a year. I understand the need to see the doctor to confirm that what we are doing is working, but I wish I didn’t have to go in if things are the same and I could just ask them to renew prescriptions on their app. But I guess doctors have to do what they need to do too.

Well, that last paragraph blew up on me! August is the last month of summer, ushering in the last bits of heat before changing into fall and dreaded S-word my youngest son hates: school. I will have a sophomore and a senior in high school this year. Almost done! It’s been a trip seeing my kids finish public school. I still remember when I graduated high school. This school year will end with another graduating ceremony, but for my middle son this time. Then I get to wait 2 more years for my youngest, as long as his grades are good. Of course, there are my nieces to wait for as well (and I got a bit to wait on my sister’s daughters!).

GAMES I’M PLAYING: Pokémon Scarlet/Violet, trying to finish filling the Pokedex as best as I can and get the legendaries; Stardew Valley, trying to get 100% perfection; way too many mobile games!
